Leah Marie Ball is a graduate of the UT design program where she was taught excellent problem solving and creative thinking skills. She has since honed her skills as the previous Art Director for The Texas Observer. She has extensive experience taking various different design projects all the way from concept to fruition. She has enjoyed working on projects as varied as idendity design, editorial layouts and dynamic websites.

Redesign of Hospital IV Stand | fall 2007
Researched and designed Cooper, a new concept for a hospital IV stands focused on getting patients ambulatory, a key step to recuperation.

Art Director | June 2007 - present
Implemented a dynamic layout for feature spreads that emphasize reading accessibility and intrigue through the use of pull-quotes, full-bleed art and stronger use of typographic elements. Cultivated and maintained a broader base of freelance photographer and illustrator resources. Responsibilites include: Art direction for articles through concept development and selection of photographic and illustrative talent appropriate for the content. Production of the bi-monthly print and web magazine. Work with business and marketing office to design all house ads and promotions.

Intern | spring 2007
Maintained print production workflow enabling the Principles to focus on creative content. Learned style sheets, clipping masks and tables in Indesign and Illustrator.
